Steph is a Chartered Clinical Psychologist registered with the Health and Care Professionals Council (HCPC) and a member of The British Psychological Society (BPS) and the Division of Neuropsychology.
Steph works from a client-centred perspective, working collaboratively with each person to help develop an understanding of current difficulties, to identify goals and promote psychological wellbeing. She currently works in adult brain injury rehabilitation in the NHS, providing neuropsychological assessment, supporting adjustment to injury and the psychological challenges faced following brain injury. Steph has previously worked with Children and Young people following brain injury. Steph She also works in adult mental health with clients presenting with a range of behavioural, emotional and mental health difficulties such as anxiety, depression and trauma.
The models that Steph uses therapeutically will be guided both by the evidence base but most importantly in collaboration with the client. The main approaches she uses are Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR). She has undergone specialist training in EMDR and receives specialist supervision in order to be able to practice this model. Steph also provides staff training to promote team wellbeing and has taught on the University of Exeter Clinical Psychology Doctorate programme.
