Dr Vera Fixter

Vera is a Clinical Psychologist working within the area of Neuropsychology. She is registered as a Practitioner Psychologist with the HCPC and is member of the British Psychological Society (BPS).
Vera has a long held interest in Neuropsychology, completing specialist placements and research into neurological conditions during her clinical training. Since qualifying as a Clinical Psychologist from the University of Bath, Vera has worked across a range of neuropsychology settings. Her current posts include community brain injury rehabilitation and neurodegenerative disease. Vera is currently completing her post-doctoral diploma in Clinical Neuropsychology at the University of Bristol and has supported with teaching on the University of Bristol’s Applied Neuropsychology Masters course.
Vera has experience working with clients with a wide range of neurological, physical health and mental health difficulties which supports her work within the area of brain injury rehabilitation. Common areas of intervention include support with adjustment and loss, coping with change and uncertainty, management of anxiety, depression and anger-related issues. Vera frequently works with couples and families and sees effective multi-disciplinary and multi-service working as key to successful intervention.
Vera is competent in neurocognitive assessment, psychological formulation and is skilled in a range of evidence-based treatment approaches. Her primary psychotherapeutic approach is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and she is a fully accredited BABCP Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist. Vera also has training in a range of other evidence-based approaches including Mindfulness and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
Vera is committed to providing evidence-based treatments that are individually tailored to meet the needs of her clients. Vera is passionate about providing a safe and trusting environment where her clients are supported to make long-term change that is personally meaningful.
